Pearl Street Restaurant & Riding a Citi Bike

This week I’m sharing one of the best meals I’ve had in quite a while! And second, it’s summer and you know me, it’s my moral duty to implore you to get on a bike. Don’t forget, you can submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram.

My sister went to Pearl Street Restaurant a year ago and was adamant that I check it out. What a dummy I was to sit on that for so long. Last week I had one of the better meals I’ve had in a long time. In fact, one of the best dishes I’ve eaten all year. Pearl Street Restaurant is actually located on Front St. (according to Google Maps) but don’t let that and the unintentionally hidden entrance stop you. This place is small, like 12-seat chef’s counter small. It has an intimacy that leads to genuine conversation, with your fellow New Yorkers and the staff. Chef John offers a seasonal menu focusing on seafood but even I (vegetarian) left satiated. The best dish I’ve had all year? The maitake “farroto” that was a play on risotto with a truffle cream that was still effortlessly light. For my husband’s part, he said that if I wasn’t there he would have “licked the cauliflower cream off the scallops plate”. This is the type of restaurant that reminds you maybe there’s more to Dumbo than that picture everyone’s trying to take. That, and always listen to your sister.

If you know me at all, you know I am a biking girlie. I love riding my bike all over NYC but I also enjoy riding a Citi Bike. When the weather turns, we’re talking two rides a day minimum. I know a lot of you are concerned about safety (VALID) but if you can get up the courage, ride with caution in mind and a helmet, it really can’t be beat. You get everywhere in half the time, it’s more fun than sweating on the subway, and when you’re done you just leave the bike behind (hello still being able to get drinks and get home safely). So if you’ve been hesitant to try, now is your time. If you need a partner, message me, I’ll come meet you! (Honestly, why the hell do I not have a Citi Bike affiliate link at this point?!?!)
