Mmuseum & A Man and His Sandwich tours

And we’re back for season four! It’s only been a month off but I’ve really missed bringing you these amazing stories about New York City. Even though I’ll be away for a few weeks, they’ll still be weekly episodes to fulfill all your NYC needs! The episodes really are perfect for that flight back home after a long trip, when you’re really missing the city, just turn one on and let the memories of New York settle in. And now back to our “official” Rachel’s Recs: first up is a gallery in an unsuspecting space, followed by the business run by none other than our season four premiere guest. And don’t forget to submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the opening of this year’s summer program at Mmuseum and it was a spectacle in the best New York way: about 400 people crowded in the street, an opera singer announcing the show, music blasting from a speaker, and confetti raining down. Watching this all play out surrounded by fellow New Yorkers, in this tiny alley, just felt like such a “city in the summer” experience. As mentioned, this gallery is located on Cortland Alley and it’s housed inside of an elevator shaft. It’s tiny and only three people can be let in at a time, but I think it’s worth you trying it out for the experience. I’m sure if you arrived Sunday around 4pm it couldn’t be that crowded.

Ben Gollan owns and operates A Man and His Sandwich tours and also happens to be our season four premiere guest! I had the pleasure of attending one of his sandwich tours recently and I was wowed. While the food, stops, and history are all great, it’s Ben’s wild enthusiasm that really is the star of the show. You can tell he has a genuine passion, not just for sandwiches (😆), but for the people who make them and for this great city. Whether you’re visiting NYC or live here and want to try something new, check out one of his tours! Bonus, you also get to stop for a beer along the way…

Don’t forget you can have a custom New York City itinerary just like this, made specifically for you with our Curated Days!
