La Mama ETC & The Gutter
One of this week’s Rachel’s Rec is a bit of a tease because the show has already closed :( but that shouldn’t stop you from seeing any of the other fabulous shows this theatre puts on! And our second recommendation is pure fun for anyone who can’t leave the city over the holidays.
La Mama is an avant-garde theatre institution in the East Village. It was founded in 1961 and still puts on some of the best experimental theatres in the city. Every New Yorker should visit at least once!
The Gutter in Williamsburg is a Thanksgiving Eve tradition with my friends and me. When we were young and living in Brooklyn and couldn’t afford to travel home, we would meet up here for drinks and bowling. I have such fun memories of it and maybe the new generation could take it up as a tradition too?
