Walking Manhattan top to bottom

Somehow it’s already the season seven finale of our podcast. It really creeped up on me this time but don’t worry, we’ll be back on November 13th! In the meantime, I have ONE epic recommendation for you.

Walking Manhattan top to bottom

This has been a Rachel’s Rec before but they’re my recs, I can do whatever I want! But really, it’s because walking the entirety of the island of Manhattan is so goddamn fun. I actually did it for the fifth time last weekend and it was just as great as I remembered. Very important: stretch, wear good shoes, drink water. I know, I sound old. But the truth is you‘re going to be walking around 14 miles (40k steps), you gotta take it a little seriously. Ok, on to the fun stuff… the neighborhoods! the people! the sights! the food! This is why you’re doing this walk. In one day you’ll get to see all of New York and all the people that make this city so great. I love to stop along the route for snacks and drinks (duh). If you happen to make the same sort of timing my husband and I did, you’ll be downtown just in time for happy hour. We had a fabulous one with some snacks and cocktails at Mostrador right before ending at the water near the Staten Island Ferry. And then to celebrate our completion, we walked over to one of the oldest bars in the city, Fraunces Tavern, for a final cheers. If you’ve always wanted to do the walk, now is your chance!

Don’t forget you can have a custom New York City itinerary just like this, made specifically for you with our Curated Days!
