US Open & Saraghina Caffé
I’m riding a high off a fabulous birthday staycation (more on that to come). And, I get to do even more festivities with friends throughout the week! What can I say, I’m a lucky New Yorker. Don’t forget, you can submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram.
It’s your yearly reminder to go enjoy one of the best NYC summer pastimes, the US Open! If you’re a listener of our podcast (and you really should be) you know that I’m a new tennis fan thanks to the US Open. A few years ago, I got tickets on a whim as just a fun New York thing to do and got hooked. The good news: even if tickets to the main events are a little out of your budget, you can go this week to Fan Week when everything is free! And if you do buy tickets for next week, I implore you to make a plan like I do: CitiBike to Corona, stop by a taco truck on 111th St. for cheap eats, buy beers from a bodega to have on the sidewalk, and then walk the extra 10 minutes over to the grounds. A beautiful night in Queens!
I recently stopped by this “Milanese Apertivo” hour in Fort Greene and it was… dead? I know that’s not normally a selling point but hear me out! Well-crafted Italian-style cocktails for $15, gratis snacks, beautiful interiors, and no elbowing for space at Bar Pisellino? It’s a win. I can’t figure out why more people weren’t there but let’s just go with it and chalk it up as a small NYC win we so rarely get.
Don’t forget you can have a custom New York City itinerary just like this, made specifically for you with our Curated Days!
