Anabel Basin & Noguchi Museum

This week I wanted to share a spot to soak in the sun on a gorgeous spring day and you requested “things to do on a rainy day”. Wouldn’t you know it, NYC has both in the forecast for this weekend, so you can choose to do either (or both) of the recs this week! Don’t forget, you can submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram.

This spot simply has one of the best views I’ve seen of the city. Take the E, M, or G train to Court Square, walk 14 minutes over to the water, traverse through an industrial parking lot, and you’ll arrive at sunny-day oasis, Anabel Basin. They’ve got a full bar, food options, and lots of seating. I went last Sunday on a 70-degree day and there was hardly anyone there! Grab some friends and go spend the afternoon remembering how lucky you are to live here.

While this museum in Astoria is always peaceful, it’s surprisingly even better on a rainy day. The rain makes its way into the open-air room and you can feel the stone and artwork changing. You can even smell it. As you make your way up to the second floor, you can gaze out the windows at the calming sculpture garden while you hide from the rain. I’ve experienced this museum during many seasons, but this might be my favorite time to go.

Don’t forget you can have a custom New York City itinerary just like this, made specifically for you with our Curated Days!
