The holidays are over! Budget Month is over! It’s time for some good old-fashioned Rachel’s Recs. So this week I’m bringing you a bar I adored and a New York movie. And don’t forget, now that our themed months are over, you can submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram!
On Christmas Day my husband and I walked the Williamsburg Bridge over to the LES to get some cocktails at the Swan Room inside the swanky Nine Orchard Hotel. When I tell you the drinks and menu were nearly perfect, I mean it. We tried four different cocktails and each one was so good. And the room! So gorgeous, dark, sexy, in a good way! If you‘re in the market for some cocktails in a fancy space, go check it out.
Past Lives
This is a NEW YORK movie. Set between the city and South Korea, this film from Celine Song, is truly a love letter to New York. There’s a mini love triangle and young love but what you’re really here for is all the sweeping, yet quotidian shots of our city. And my god, the performances. I’ll just say this, the two male support actors had a scene near the end that left me in tears. Want to take the NYC feeling up a notch? Go check it out at Syndicated or Cinema Village!
