My 5 fav NYC bars!
We’re going a little different this week! I noticed on our Instagram stories all of your requests were for bars... rough week? 😆 So, since everyone was so hell-bent on drinking I figured I’d come at you with my current five favorite bars in the city. *Current* is the keyword here because these are subject to change any time I see fit! Also, these are my favs- not the best, not the cheapest or coolest, or anything else. But hopefully, you enjoy seeing them and maybe go check out a few. And don’t forget to submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram!
Tuffet
Tuffet has been my go-to bar for over a decade. Anytime I’m meeting up with friends or looking for a quick pop-in, we inevitably wind up at Tuffet. I like to call them a wine bar but I don’t think they’d agree as they offer plenty of cocktails, beers, and snacks. Their back patio is not to be missed!
Rolo’s
Getting called a “regular” anywhere in NYC will make you feel special, so to be given this title by one of their bartenders really felt like a win. My husband and I often find ourselves at the bar on weeknights, chatting with bartenders and anyone else that’s down! The wine list is always good, cocktails are excellent and you already know how I feel about the war-style fries…
Keen’s
For me, I’m not sure it gets much more classic NYC than Keen’s. Sitting at their bar with a dirty martini always feels truly special and can turn my day around if I’m feeling shitty. You know I’m vegetarian so this isn’t even about the food. It’s about the room, the history, and perfect drinks.
Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels
Located in Soho, Compagnie is easily my favorite wine bar in the city. We’ve been lucky enough to have their head bartender, Kypo, on the show and I’ve made it a point to try and weave myself into their usuals, whether they like it or not! Sometimes wine bars can feel snooty or worse, tacky, but at Compagnie you never get any of that. Just a great wine list that isn’t wildly expensive, delicious food, and some of the best people in the business working there. And they have happy hour too!
The Ear Inn
Last but not least, The Ear Inn. Again, just a classic. Old ass bar with good drinks. And sometimes the bartenders have a bit of an attitude, which I like! It always feels a bit special to get over there because it’s a bit of a hike from the subway, but once you do it’s worth it and you tend to stay for awhile. We wound up making it here on my birthday and we did just that, sat and drank for hours with friends.
