Bar Veloce & 12th Street Ale House

I had some old friends in town this weekend, and did we have some fun. We’re talking 1am, 2am, 3am on multiple nights. As you should with girlfriends in New York City! But on Friday, we had a little trouble finding places to continue the party. Luckily, we were saved by two old faithfuls…

After finishing up dinner at Lil Frankies in the East Village, my friends and I were ready for another round. It was about 11pm, and some spots were so packed we couldn't get in, while others were closing up shop. We stopped at one spot I thought might be good, but they were closed. Then another spot on Second Ave was putting up their chairs. Anxiety ensued: I had to show my friends a good time, I had to prove NYC was still fun! So I ran across the street to Bar Veloce, and they happily let us in. Prime outdoor table on the sidewalk, a bottle of rosé, friends gossiping and laughing, it was basically perfect. They even asked us if we wanted another bottle before last call, but we politely declined.

But that was a mistake. Around 1:45am, we realized we indeed wanted another round and spotted 12th Street Ale House across the street with its door flung open. Now, this isn’t a bar I typically spend a lot of time in, but they had drinks and music and a crowd! (Don’t let anyone convince you New York isn’t still partying, they’re going to the wrong places.) We stayed there for another hour or so, though who can say for sure, I don’t really remember much. Except for the young man at the bar who hit on me, I do remember that. And for that, and all of the above, I thank you, Bar Veloce and 12th Street Ale House.

Don’t forget you can have a custom New York City itinerary just like this, made specifically for you with our Curated Days!
