Abraço & a mini EV gallery crawl

Summer’s nearly ending and I don’t want to talk about it 😫. But, it’s a great time to get out there and do a walk, and all the galleries are opening back up for you to see a bunch of free art! Don’t forget, you can submit your NYC requests on Friday in our stories on Instagram.

Right now I’m craving long strolls with my husband- no plans but many options. And the perfect way for us to start a day like that is at 17-year East Village caffeine institution, Abraço. I’ll be honest here, do I drink coffee? No. I’m a tea gal! But, my husband recently got his European citizenship, so let’s just give it to me? We‘ve done the research and I trust his taste. But don’t just trust us, this spot has consistently been ranked as one of the best espresso pulls in town. And with that pedigree can come a bit of a line. But it’s not the type of line that makes you want to yank your hair out (see: Lafayette spiral croissant thing line). Instead, it’s a bunch of New Yorkers hoping for the same thing you are: a no-fuss cup of strong café. No oat milk to be found.

And if you want to continue your perfect little afternoon, stroll on over to a few galleries in the East Village. While many have been closed or showing group shows for the summer, they’re coming back strong for fall around September 4th. Head east from Abraço down Avenue A, to stop by mini gallery, Match. They have two small viewing rooms and a show that opened this week, I can’t wait to check it out. After that, take a leisurely 15-minute walk over to one of the Karma locations on East 2nd Street for their newest show that opens on the 7th. Maybe after you’ll stop by a bookshop or get a drink. Who knows really, isn’t that what makes NYC so great?
